About Compton G.irls Club
Compton G.IRLS Club was founded in 2017 as an after-school club based in Compton High School’s Library. We started with 12 girls and volunteers from within our own community. We have created a safe space for girls and gender nonconforming youth to learn something new without judgment.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide girls and gender nonconforming from underserved communities access to resources, knowledge and skills that are not readily accessible to them in their own neighborhoods.
We believe access to these skills will aid them in their journeys to becoming confident, assertive, and independent.
Our Vision
Our vision is a community of girls and gender nonconforming youth enlightened and empowered to become the best version of themselves.
We envision our girls and youth so emboldened with knowledge and resources that they plant that seed into their neighborhoods and the next generation.
Our Board
Chrystani Heinrich
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR & FOUNDER
Chrystani Heinrich has always been a champion for women. Early in life, she understood the importance of sisterhood and the meaningful connections that arise with women. In her youth, she was a Girl Scout and she believes that is what set her on the path to helping others within her own community. For 12 years she worked in Education as the Assistant Librarian at Compton High School, which is where Compton Girls Club was born. She has partnered with organizations within Compton to bring solid programming centered around educating girls and gender-nonconforming youth to Compton.
Auriel Bossett
BOARD PRESIDENT
Auriel Bossett has worked as a social worker for the Department of Children and Family Services for 12 years. She is dedicated to eradicating racial disparities and disproportionality in the child welfare system.
Auriel has worked extensively with Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) and marginalized populations. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California Berkeley and her master’s degree in social work, MSW from the University of Southern California (USC), with future plans to work on a doctorate.
Jenelle Bossett
TREASURER
With a passion for strategic planning focused on raising philanthropic support, Jenelle Bossett-Allen has over ten years of experience in business development. Securing major gifts as the Director of Development for the UCLA Anderson School of Management, Jenelle brings her knowledge and insight from the non-profit higher education sector. Jenelle enjoys mentoring and volunteering for Big Brother Big Sisters of Los Angeles in her free time. Jenelle has her BA in Comparative Literature and Global Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Sherida Harris
SECRETARY
Sherida Harris is a Los Angeles native who has focused her career on providing enriching and mindful experiences for Black and Brown families throughout South LA for the past 20+ years.
Her professional philosophy incorporates both a holistic and solution-based approach which both supports space and a positive narrative, for at-opportunity for youth and families to thrive. As a Support Service Manager, her commitment is the betterment of all youth and their families through empowerment and an asset-based approach; everyone has something to contribute.
Sherida is a graduate of the LA Community College District Early Childhood Education program where she earned her Associates Degree and a Bachelor's from GCU in Sociology w/ an Emphasis in Social Work.
